The Morning Office

LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer;* hearken, O God of Jacob.

My heart is firmly fixed, O God, my heart is fixed;* I will sing and make melody. Wake up, my spirit; awake, lute and harp;* I myself will awaken the dawn. I will confess you among the peoples, O LORD;* I will sing praise to you among the nations. For your loving-kindness is greater than the heavens,* and your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. Exalt yourself above the heavens, O God,* and your glory over all the earth.

On this day the LORD has acted;* we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Jesus taught us, saying: 'I shall not leave you orphans; I shall come to you. In a short time the world will no longer see me; but you will see that I live and you also will live. On that day you will know that I am in my Father and you in me and I in you.'

Bless the LORD, O my soul,* all that is within me, bless his holy Name. Bless the LORD, O my soul,* and forget not all his benefits. He forgives all your sins* and heals all your infirmities; He redeems your life from the grave* and crowns you with mercy and lovingkindness; He satisfies you with good things,* and your youth is renewed like an eagle's.

The LORD is a great God,* and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the caverns of the earth,* and the heights of the hills are his also. The sea is his, for he made it,* and his hands have molded the dry land.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be your Name. May your kingdom come, and your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for yours are the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Holy Father, creator and sustaining wisdom of all that is, both in heaven and on earth, take from me those thoughts, actions and objects that are hurtful. Give me instead those things that are profitable for me and all who seek rightly to praise you. I ask this grace in the company of all believers and through the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who is, with you and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.

Lord God, almighty and everlasting Father, you have brought me in safety to this new day: Preserve me with your mighty power, that I may not fall into sin, nor be overcome by adversity; and in all I do direct me to the fulfilling of your purpose; through Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen.
